Top Five Proven Social Media Strategies

1) Facebook: Most entrepreneurs find that their best source of clients are from within their sphere of influence; family, friends, former colleagues, neighbors, previous classmates, etc.  The best way to stay connected with a lot of people who ordinarily might have lost touch, is by utilizing Facebook.  A personal profile page is a great way to occasionally remind your connections what type of business you are in.  By posting links, videos, status updates and photos, it’s very likely to remind someone you know of what types of products and services you have to offer.

2) Twitter: Twitter’s growth has exploded over the last year and is a powerful tool which can’t be ignored. Use Twitter to release information about your products or services, or simply engage in industry discussions. Other advantages to using Twitter include finding joint venture partners, interaction with prospective customers, and obtaining feedback from current clients.  Twitter is a way to make yourself available to the community to answer questions and provide valuable information in a way that establishes credibility and reinforces integrity.

3) Blogging: Maintaining a blog is one of the most important strategies for branding success.  Having a blog is equally as important as reading and researching the blogs within your industry.  Interact by commenting and leaving links back to your own blog.   Offer relevant and pertinent information, but never spam.

4) Bookmarking Sites: Popular bookmarking sites include Reddit, StumbleUpon, Delicious, and Digg. These sites are great for syndicating your online content and encouraging traffic to your site. For the best success, don’t simply submit and vote for your own blog posts  and articles– get involved in the community by submitting the content of others, participating in the forums and establishing yourself as a thought leader.

5)  Video: The old saying still rings true, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”  What this means is that video can illustrate your company in a way which is difficult to convey with the written word alone.  Potential clients have the opportunity to connect with your company and feel more familiar (comfortable). This is a much more powerful marketing strategy than any blog post, photo, or copy from a Web site.
