Where does one draw the line on social networks?

First:  I’m upset about Clemson’s ridiculous loss to Georgia Tech tonight – two sloppy performances, and we ended up on the losing end.  ‘Nuff said.

My question tonight is:  where do you cross the line w/respect to “friending” or “following” when it comes to business contacts?

I’ll admit, I was really urked when my boss “friended” me on Facebook.  I felt backed into a corner… I couldn’t NOT accept him, for fear of retribution, but I really didn’t want to let him into my personal world, which Facebook represents for me.  Since then, several vendor contacts have requested to be my friend on Facebook.  Again, I like many of my vendor contacts, but I don’t feel the need to let them into that personal aspect of my life.  But, again…do I feel that I can “ignore” them, without hurting the relationships?  No.

What’s your take on the protocol for “friending” or “following” WRT business contacts?  Please leave your comments, b/c I’m really curious.
